Description:
Serial #9656, 8mm Mauser, 29 1/2” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a small amount of freckling within the grooves. This was originally a German Model 1888 Commission Rifle, but was altered to conform as closely as possible to the 1903/30 Pattern. The rifle retains about 50-60% of the armory-applied blue finish with the balance turned to a dull pewter gray patina mixing with plum-brown. The metal has worn along the edges and the receiver markings have softened over time, but are still legible. The correct, but mismatched bolt has a darker plum-brown patina with some streaks of bright gray present along the body. The walnut stock and handguard have numerous small handling marks and blemishes throughout, as well as a few heavily sanded areas at the butt. The rifle is mechanically sound and the original metal cleaning rod is included. This is a nice Turkish rifle, without import markings, and rates about very good condition overall. FFL or C&R
