Description:
This bayonet is marked "U.S. M4 UTICA" with flaming bomb on guard. Pommel is a dimple marked probably Utica made version with starburst peen and small diameter latch pins. The all leather grip is the early square groove M3 design with each end groove omitted, leaving six narrow grooves in center of grip and a large area not grooved at each end. Grip shows wear and scuffing from use. Blade retains 70% grey finish and was lightly sharpened at tip. This coms in a Beckwith M8 scabbard marked "B2/ON" on throat that has a period alteration to M8A1 with double hook sewn into belt loop.
