Japanese Matchclock carbine. Barrel length is 27” and is 38” overall length. This is one of the more attractive and certainly one of the best condition matchlocks we have owned. Barrel has an engraved Dragon with silver overlay. The Dragon is holding the “Sacred Pearl” with a point of a Ken Blade in the forefront. There are silver overlaid clouds near the muzzle and the breech. There is a family crest (Mon) inlaid in silver. There are some very small markings on the right side of the barrel, just in the front of the pan fence. We believe these are Meiji Registration numbers. This gun weights 10 ½ Lbs. The stock is excellent with no chips or cracks or repairs and has 98% of its original Varnish. If you had to have just one very fine Japanese Matchlock, this would be the one.
