Description:
**********SOLD**********

This is a most unusual watch fob; in 50 years I have never seen another made in this manner.

The 1910-11 Oklahoma City Directories list Pierce & Hidlebaugh (C. H. Pierce & C. E. Hidlebaugh) as “Harness & Saddles” at 102 California.  The partnership is not listed in 1908, and by 1912 Pierce has his own Saddlery at the same address.

The nickel plated medallion is 1-1/2” in diameter, and it is mounted on a double thickness of leather that is 1.7” in diameter.  The medallion is locked into place by a metal companion piece that is sandwiched within the double thickness backing.  That piece locks into the semicircle windows in the medallion such that only leather fills those windows.  At the top of that double thick leather part is an eyelet through which the watch fob strap is looped.  The watch fob strap is 0.4” wide and is 3-3/8” in length to the upper loop.  An “H” type harness buckle connects the fob strap and allows some length adjustment.  On the back of the double thick leather segment is a simple dot pattern.  The leather is soft and pliable but is definitely old and showing some darkening from age.  The medallion is believed to have been ordered from a die maker by Pierce & Hidlebaugh.  Notice that the die maker made one error on the medallion: “Hidlebaugh” is slightly misspelled.  Evidently the “105 California” address is correct -- See ad clipping from the May 7, 1911 Oklahoma City Daily Pointer newspaper.

This is being offered in another sales venue, so if you want this great fob, buy-it-now!
