This early New Service (1911 manufacture) in .44 W.C.F. (44/40) caliber has been custom engraved by Colt Master Engraver, John Adams, approximately twenty years ago. The grips are two piece elephant ivory with Colt medallions, made for this gun by Jim Alaimo of Nutmeg Sports. Needless to say, they fit perfectly. Mr. Alaimo is the former superintendant of Colt's Custom Shop and is a fully licensed ivory dealer. The gun was finished in antique nickel, and it retains virtually 100% of that finish. The gun is perfect mechanically and has a good, but not perfect bore, with good rifling and some lite spotting, but should shoot fine.
