Description: This is a very nice example of what James Purdey could produce. Built in the middle of the Edwardian period around 1906, this gun exemplifies the quality of the highest craftsmanship Purdey ever achieved. There is much debate on this, with many favoring their guns built between the wars, but I will stand my ground on these guns built before WWI. Retaining 40% original case hardening and over 90% barrel blue, this gun is in excellent condition. The original 2 3/4" proof and the heavier weight indicate an intended use of heavier loads and reduced felt recoil making this an excellent choice for sporting clay\'s, live pigeons, or wild birds in the field.
