Here is a very shootable, graceful yet robust pre-1887 Rigby single barrel upland gun. The ribless Damascus barrel is 30 1/8" with a 2 3/4" chamber and a recent (2015) nitro proof. It has an excellent bore and is choked .011 (about IC). The gun locks up as tight as new with a Jones rotary underlever. (Undelever screw is a replacement.) Percussion fences, and unusual faceted breech. Non-rebounding back-action lock. The barrel is engraved JOHN RIGBY & CO. DUBLIN & LONDON, and the lock plate is engraved JOHN RIGBY & CO. Action is border and partial scroll engraved. Lightly figured stock has a horn forend tip, and a sliver (about 1 1/2") missing from the right side, where wood meets steel. Butt stock has various hunting dings, scratches and indentations, but is quite solid. Stock measures 1 1/2" x 2 3/8" x 14 3/8" over a smooth steel butt plate. Weight is 6 lbs 14 oz. I've always enjoyed hunting with singles, and this one is a dandy.
