Here is a super elk rifle: an early (1926 by the serial number) Winchester Model 54, originally in .30-06, and professionally rebored to .35 Whelen. The barrel is 24" with excellent bore. The caliber is stamped on the left side of the barrel. A Lyman receiver sight has been mounted on the left side, and the wood modified accordingly. The bolt handle has been modified for scope use, although the rear receiver ring has not been drilled and tapped. An aftermarket white grip cap has been added, but the stock is otherwise all original and in very good shape. The LOP is 13 7/8" over the original checkered steel butt plate. This classic weighs 7 1/2 lbs, and is ready for your next backcountry elk, moose or bear hunt.
