Description:

Fine British Flintlock trade Pistol, c. 1770’s 8 3/8”, .67 cal. round brass barrel w/ (2) English proof marks with a sitting fox figure stamped into the top of the barrel and some light engraving at rear of bbl. These sitting fox figures were put on trade guns intended to be sold on the colonial North American frontier and are usually found on trade muskets. Usual Brass furniture, including decorative brass escutcheon on wrist of stock, round butt cap, side plate and trigger guard. Brass metal is very clean and shiny, lock has a dark patina. Lock is marked “T KETLAND & CO”. 14” overall length. In good working order, locks up well. A very nice example probably made for trade, but that could have seen service during the American Revolutionary War. (16-39) $1,400.00
