Description:
This is an interesting rifle. It is the desireable and accurate Browning reproduction of the Winchester Madel 1885, chambered in the 45-70 Government round.
The original owner of the rifle wanted to portray a more period-correct example for his Cowboy Action events, so he had the rifle disassembled, the metalwork polished and redone in rust blue, and the wood stripped and refinished in oil. It now looks much more authentic than the bright polish and poly-shine wood of the Browning reproductions.
The rifle features the strong falling block design, and so can handle the +P+ loads from Buffalo Bore, Cor-Bon and Garrett that approach 458 Win Mag energies, or even loaded with Black Powder as were the originals. The barrel is 28" and full-octagonal. Current sights are a blade front and an adjustable buckhorn rear. The action is drilled and tapped to allow for other sight options.
Included with the rifle will be a set of Leupold bases in case mounting a scope is needed.
