Description:
SOLD...Antique Smith & Wesson DA 2nd model.38 caliber. Here is an excellent DA 2nd model Smith & Wesson with the very rare 5" barrel. S/N  103502 and all matching throughout of course. These were made between 1880 to 1884. The metal finish is excellent. The barrel has about 85% or so original nickel finish. The frame has about  95% including the front and rear grip straps and the cylinder has 95% as well. The balance of the metal is smooth with NO pitting and never cleaned on or messed with. There are the initials DGD on the right side of the frame. The trigger guard still shows 90% bright blue and the trigger still has vivd case colors showing. The case colors on the hammer have faded a bit but still show some case colors. The barrel latch shows about 90% blue as well. All the markings are excellent. The screw heads are sharp and not all burred up from tinkering. The mechanics are excellent. Crisp and tight as a new gun in lock up. NO cylinder movement side to side or front to rear. Rock solid barrel to frame fit at the latch and the hinge. This gun is tight as new in SA and DA with the safety notch being perfect and solid. NOT broken like most you will find.. The grips are excellent with NO cracks or chips and a perfect factory fit. Still showing all the fine checkering and luster. The bore is near excellent with a small spot of roughness with strong and sharp rifling. The chambers are excellent with no roughness. Extractor is working poerfectly also. This gun is priced reasonable as with the initials on the frame I have to bring down the price a bit. Still an outstanding little Smith and rare 5" barrel that you will not see very often. $20 insured shipping. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. I want happy customers. Here is a nice one for your collection to fill a void in your collection of Smith & Wesson revolvers with the longer barrel until a better one comes along or just keep it like it is !!!
