Description:
The S&W Model 28 Highway Patrolman was manufactured from 1954 through 1986. This utility model was Smith & Wesson's answer to police and civilian requests for a more budget model than the Model 27, whose high-polish finish and labor intensive top strap checking added expense, but no functional utility for a good carry gun. To reduce costs, but maintain function, the Highway patrolman, a classic N frame, is blued, but not polished, and the top strap and frame rounds are bead blasted to achieve a matte appearance. The Model 28 proved to be a great seller and a solid choice with both police and civilian shooters.
This revolver has checkered wood grips, a checkered hammer, grooved trigger, adjustable rear sights, and serrated ramp front sights. There is some light wear to the bluing around the muzzle. Gorgeous, mirror-like bore with crisp rifling. Box, original wax paper, & cleaning tools as shown in photos.
