At the time Egypt was a British Protectorate when I believe these were made up. Imported late 1960's with no import marks(not required at the time). Arabic/Egyptian markings about breech including crescent moon. Lockplate with faint "E.P." over crescent moon may denote Egyptian police. Actual 'Snider's Patent" on trapdoor as well as Crown over "A.S.". Traces of finish remaining but most in the white. Crude fixed rear V notch sight and post front. Smoothbore bright. 26" barrel with cleaning rod channel and two pipes(one resoldered). Various markings over breech including "25" and other V/Crown stamp but nothing that would denote "for ball" or "not for ball" due to scratches. Wood sanded at one time with missing rear sling swivel. Steel mounts overall. Rear tang screw a bit too long so find actual one or cut this one down. Interesting period of history for Egypt from British rule through the death of Chinese Gordon and after so one can only wonder what sort of action these smoothbore short rifles saw.
