SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1877 TRAPDOOR .45-70 RIFLE. Serial numbered in the "107XXX" range. All original mid production prior to the Model 1879 versions. Buffington sight. All original blue overall. Trapdoor with 1878 date. Lockplate with crisp eagle next to "U.S. Springfield". All screws excellent and unturned. Faint cartouche and Circle/P with original stock finish never cleaned. Few signs of use to stock with only a rack ding to forend that should lift out. Only signs of wear are on buttplate where some of the blue wearing thin at edges. Buttplate has "U.S." as well as crisply struck rack number "5" which also appears on stock in same font and size. Perfect working order. Original cleaning rod. Mint bore and three groove rifling. Prime example for collection.
