This is a very handsome rifle that has retained 90-95% of the original blue finish that has silvered lightly at the muzzle, along the rounded portion of the receiver, edges of the magazine door, and along some of the high edges and bearing surfaces. The bolt has an overall armory bright finish mixing smoothly with a pewter gray patina, and the extractor has about 90% of the original fire blue remaining with the balance flecked with tiny spots of freckling. The rifle is outfitted with a Model 1902 rear sight. The walnut stock and handguard are also in fine-near excellent condition and have some handling marks and small blemishes scattered about the original oil finish, mostly at the butt, as well as a still crisp “JSA/1902” cartouche on the left side of the wrist. The steel buttplate has most of the original blue remaining with the balance turned to a lightly freckled gray patina. Both a nickel steel oiler and segmented cleaning rod are present in the stock compartment, which retains 90-95% of the original color case-hardening. This is an extremely nice example of a late U.S. Krag-Jorgensen in excellent condition and would make a great addition to any collection.
