Description:
This bayonet was built for the 1835/40 musket, the last flintlock 1842 musket. Blade measures 18 1/16 inch with 7/8 width. Socket is 2 5/8 inches long with 15/16 OD and 27/32 ID. This was also the first American bayonet with a clasp ring. This example shows weak US stamping and has very light scattered staining I the bright finish. This is show in Janzen's Notebook page 198 No 4.
