Description:
Harpers Ferry Model 1842 "US" percussion musket, .69 caliber, 58" OAL with a 42" barrel. Lock marked "Harpers Ferry 1851" with American Eagle and in good working order. The barrel is marked "V P" with inspector marks & has the Eagle head proof. Barrel tang is also marked "1851". U.S. on the butt plate. Metal surfaces have a smooth mottled brown patina. The walnut stock has a "flat finish" with inspector marks & carvings including initials M. K. on left side along with unidentified symbols. Bayonet marked U.S. and fits well on the musket. Period correct design replacement parts, including nipple, ramrod and sling. The 1842 muskets were very popular among the Union & Confederate units.
