Payment Types Accepted: checks, cashiers/bank check, money order Description: SCARCE PISTOL GRIP AND CHECKERED DELUXE 1889 .38-40 OCTAGON RIFLE, MADE 1891, a well used and uncared for example that could benefit from some careful cleaning and "help," barrel still retains good aged blue with gray mixing and some rust pitting mainly around the rear buckhorn sight and some on the receiver ring- possibly blood pitting from carrying with a bloody hand after field dressing game and not wiping the blood off the metal afterward- mag tube aged mainly an uncleaned brown, brown receiver, fine checkering on the pistol grip and forend showing normal handling only, butt stock looks a bit dry but solid with only one small chip at the upper tang/rec. juncture on the right side, also shows one ding in the wood near this area- minor, forearm is basically solid with a slight crack coming back from the forend cap on each side- also minor- rear buckhorn sight appears to be a replacement, correct Rocky Mountain blade front sight, needs one forend cap screw, surprisingly fine bore that ought to scrub out near exc, fine action, looks like the lower butt plate screw is a replacement, an unusual rifle that could easily be improved with some careful cleaning etc. SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Marlin Model: 1889 Deluxe Serial Number: 62XXX Caliber Info: 38-40 Condition: vg Barrels: 24" oct |
