Description: According to a survey of all the records completed prior to the fire that destroyed most of the information, only one of each 1420 model 1894 rifles had a shorter than standard barrel and only one of each 725 rifles had a pistol grip; one in three models 1894 was a rifle and 7 of every 10 guns was 30 caliber (38-55 was the next most common). You are viewing one used Winchester Model 1894 rifle in caliber 25-35, serial # 286501, manufactured in 1905. This is a special order rifle having a 24" full octagon barrel (2" shorter than standard and not commonly found at this length), full magazine, and plain pistol grip with crescent butt plate (shotgun butts were more commonly ordered in conjunction with a pistol grip). Stocks show a good amount of use with numerous dings, dents, gouges, and scrapes. Forearm has a tight 3" crack on the shooter's right and the butt stock has a split by the upper tang about 1" long, also on the shooter's right. The good news is they still retain that beautiful deep reddish Winchester color, have never been sanded or refinished, are still tight and do not have any extra swivel holes. Action still tight and half-cock safety seems to function properly. Bore is very good with strong rifling, no frost, minor wear, no pitting, and only slightly dark in the grooves. Have a competent, gunsmith check it over if you intend to shoot it. Receiver, lever, forend cap and butt plate have turned a dark plummish brown, while the barrel and mag tube have a lot of deep, bright blue starting to be covered by light oxidation on the surface that should clean off (there is no pitting present). Rear sight has been there forever but is not Winchester, possibly King or Marlin? Is very long and has a very this elevator. Front sight has set screw but has lost its ivory bead. Forend cap screws and loading gate screw all are replacements but again have been there a long time as their finish matches that of the receiver and cap. I have not removed the butt stock to check for assembly numbers since I have the factory records that confirm the configuration (copy of records will accompany rifle to the winning ). Although it shows use, it has not been abused and is a fairly uncommon configuration in a great caliber that will surely go up in value over time, especially with some TLC. No international sales. Must ship to FFL or C&R holder. CA C&R OK, not set up to ship to CA FFL, sorry. Payment via discreet PayPal, USPS money order, or bank check only. Add $50 shipping and insurance; will ship via USPS Priority Mail with tracking. 3 day non-firing inspection (no disassembly as well), returns accepted at the expense of the buyer.
