Gun has a 26" VR barrel marked "Skeet" on the bottom of the barrel by the date codes, white bead at the muzzle and small brass bead in center of rib. Highly figured walnut stock w/ hand checkered pistol grip and forend in complex "custom shop" pattern. Pistol grip is capped w/ the "high grade" grip cap of the era and has a hard rubber serrated "Remington" marked butt and a blank gold oval. The receiver is blue w/ very high quality factory engraving of full coverage scroll and game scene vignettes. A brace of setters and flushing quail and pheasant on left side, ducks, snipe and a brace of pointers on the ejection port side, trigger guard has the bust of a setter in the center of the bow. Manufacture, model and serial number are all engraved (not stamped or roll marked) in front of loading gate, there is no signature by an engraver that I can find. An old small crack on the right rear of the forearm is the only detrimental thing to say about the gun (can be seen in the photos) as the gun is in very high original condition. This gun retains 99% of the original blue and varnish, cycles flawlessly, and has a perfect bore. It is a lively 6 lbs 6 oz. w/ a 14" LOP and 1 1/2" x 2 9/16" dimensions. An excellent example of a rare and desirable little gun. SOLD |
