Colt Detective Special, serial number 453488, made in 1937. This is known as a Pre-War or 1st Issue Detective. Caliber is .38 Special. It has a 2 inch barrel,6 shot cylinder, blued finish, wood grips with Colt medallions and a round butt. Last patent date on barrel is Oct. 5, 1926. This revolver is in very good condition for its age. We estimate bluing to be in the 85 to 90% range according to Blue Book standards. There are some areas of light pitting on the frame, trigger guard and backstrap, this is shown in photos. There is also some muzzle wear and very light scratches. The bore is bright and grips are in excellent shape, with no chips or cracks.
