This is an EXPERIMENTAL PROTOTYPE MATCH TARGET SEMI AUTO PISTOL in .22lr. Serial number is GX2139. A one of a kind . A tag is attached to the pistol which states.... **COLT EXPERIMENTAL PROTOTYPE MATCH TARGET SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH FACTORY LETTER*** This Colt was held in the Colt Archives Museum since the early 1950's. "Serial number GX2139. .22r, 4-1/2 barrel. Standard markings, with *Colt's Mfg Co. Hartford CT. U.S.A.*" and patent on left side of barrel. Blued finish. Attached tag on the pistol indicates "Match Target .22 lR G2139 (May, 1950) Special low angle Sear & Low Trigger Bar. See GX 2139 TES 11/16/51 Hammer [illegible] 9/20/55." CONDITION Very Good. Handling and test marks, nicks and wear. Without grips or magazine. {{ I added these when I received it }} Mechanism needs adjustment or repair. NOTES: COLT FACTORY ARCHIVES FIREARMS COLLECTION! NARRATIVE: 'TES" the initals for factory engineer T.E. Sturdevant. Blueing is excellent, grips are now excellent. I have not shot this pistol. Comes with the factory letter for authenticity. A rare piece of history!!! FFL required!
