Revolutionary War era Marked ST ETIENNE on lock, with a crown and a large J. marked on the frame. 7 ¼” inch barrel 14 inches overall a very simply made early martial pistol where the hammer, pan and frozen spring are attached directly to the frame with out a lock. Flash pan, Frame, trigger guard, butt plate are all brass, iron backstrap. Barrel, marked 85 and small deep proof mark. This model has a distinctive steel ramrod with a button head and lacks a forestock. This pistol was the pattern for the 1799 North & Cheney (see Flayderman #6A-001) Condition: metal is clean with almost no rust except some corrosion here and there on left side bbl. and near muzzle. Wood has few dings and dents, and a piece burnt out next to the hammer (you can’t see missing piece unless the hammer is cocked). no cracks in the stock.
