Description:
Browning BAR Grade IV .338 Win. Mag.
Manufactured in Belgium serial number: 729xxM71 (ca. 1971) .338 Win. Mag.
blue steel 24" bbl. w/ hooded ramp front sight and folding rear sight. Nicely figured, dark walnut stock w/ finely checkered pistol grip and forearm w/ carved borders, gold medallion in pistol grip marking the Browning Centennial. Blue receiver has bull moose and cow surrounded by scroll on left side by Master Engraver: A Crousse, right side depicts a bull elk chasing a cow elk also surrounded by scroll and signed by Master Engraver: R. Grecco.
The metal is perfect but the stock has one or two handling marks and three unusual dents that are uniform on both sides where the stock meets the receiver. There is also a small chip at the head of the stock, but not cracks. Very unusual marks and I assume received in a safe or gun cabinet as the gun appears to have never been shot. Otherwise the gun is super and in the original box. Overall a 99% metal and 97% stock, bore is perfect. All original gun w/ a 13 3/4" LOP over a factory Pachmayr pad.
