Varner Favorite rifles were manufactured in Marietta, Georgia in 1988 and 1989 by Varner Sporting Arms Co. They made 3 grades of this Steven's Favorite copy not including the engraved models, and this example is the highest of the three, the "Presentation Grade". The "Presentation Grade" came with deluxe checkered walnut stocks and a deluxe factory take-down hard case. It also came with a 2nd rear sight, which was a peep style sight that could be swapped in for the open type notch style that is installed. The rifle was factory drilled and tapped and came with a custom scope base. This example has both the extra rear sight and the scope base along with the screws still in the plastic bag they came in. Neither the base nor the extra sight have any sign of use. The factory case is in excellent shape as well and comes with the original paperwork. The rifle itself is in near-new condition. It appears to have been fired but it does not show any wear to speak of. Please see the pictures with this listing to see the overall condition and look. The bore is minty and bright with sharp, strong rifling. The walnut checkered stock set is in excellent condition with nice sharp checkering and no signs of wear. Given the short amount of time they were made and the very low production numbers, these rifles have become quite collectible. Varner Favorite's have a reputation of being extremely accurate and well built; as good or even better than the original Steven's Favorite they copied. It would be nearly impossible to find one of these in better condition and this complete. This would be a great addition to any gun collection as an investment, or a fun rifle to target shoot or hunt with!
