Description:
A.H. Fox Sterlingworth 12 Gauge SxS
PHILLY, 32" #2 BARRELS

General Specs: Fox, Year 1929, 12 Gauge, 7lbs 5oz, Side-by-Side
Serial Number: 121051

Fox made A LOT of Sterlingworth 12ga. guns and you can buy them any day at reasonable prices.  And why not?  The Sterlingworth is the same mechanical gun as the finest Fox ever made and the very best buy in the vintage American double gun market.  Most were "used hard and put away wet" gathering meat for the family, and hence the good prices.  This gun, sn121051 made in 1929, is an exception to most you see in several ways.  First, it was shipped with #2 weight (heavy duty) 32" barrels choked extra full/extra full (.046/.045 choke constrictions) and was most certainly a waterfowler by intent.  You rarely see 32" barrels on a Sterlingworth.  Second, this gun has been completely refurbished to new, including bone and charcoal case color, rust blue barrels and trigger guard, and a brand new butt stock and forend made to be an exact duplicate of the original.  The chambers were lengthened to 3" by a gunsmith including 1 1/2" lengthened forcing cones which will soften the recoil when shooting heavy loads.  With brand new wood properly installed and inletted and zero oil soaking or cracks, this gun will handle the 3" loads without worrying about breaking an old, oil soaked stock.  Weighing in at 7lbs. 5oz. and balanced about 1" in front of the hinge pin, the long barrels will keep you swinging on those crossing shots where you need a lot of lead.  Keep in mind that when the case color was done, they stripped the receiver to its smallest parts, cleaned them all, and then lubricated the internals upon reassembly, so the gun is like new inside and out and ready for the field for another 80 years.  If you have ever wanted a big waterfowler or turkey gun that has been totally restored to new, this is your gun.  It actually cost more to have the gun restocked then we are asking for the whole gun!  And that doesn't include the metal restoration or the year long wait.  Thanks for looking.
