Description:
SALE PENDING.  Further reduction to $1050. Listed is a Remington New Model Army .44 Caliber 6 Shot Percussion Revolver with 8 inch barrel and serial number 65272.
It has much of its original blue on the barrel, frame and cylinder but thin on the front and rear grip straps.  There are some scratches and dings on the barrel and frame and a small ding on the brass trigger guard.  Bore has some pitting and the cylinder chambers are very good but two have some light corrosion at the nipple end.
Original walnut grips are decent with still some of the original cartouche marking on the left grip.  Bottom of grips show abuse as looks like it was used as a hammer.
Top of barrel is marked: “PATENTED SEPT 14 1858 / E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION NEW YORK. U.S.A. / NEW MODEL”.
Has various markings at several locations: “W” on left side of frame in front of cylinder; “H” on right side of frame in front of cylinder; “L” on left side of barrel in front of frame; “W” on right side of barrel in front of cylinder; “S” on bottom of barrel just in front of barrel stud for the loading lever latch; “W” on the left side of the loading lever; “L” on brass trigger guard; “H” and “W” on cylinder; “H” on left side of frame in back of recoil shield; “P” on the back of the cylinder and the serial number “65272” marked on underside of barrel and bottom of the grip on the left side.  The cartouche on the left grip is visible but not readable.
The revolver functions fine and locks up nicely.  The original cylinder pin was broke and has been replaced.
Included is the likely original unmarked leather holster in good condition.  Also included is a partial box of original cartridges for this gun containing two cartridges, one bullet and 6 primer caps.  A nicely marked box that is all there but a little rough.
The inside of the left grip is marked in pencil a “Name” and “12NYVC” – (12th New York Cavalry Regiment).  Selling this revolver for the descendents of the Named person.
Further reduction to $1050.00 plus actual shipping cost.
