Description:
Otto Bock, Berlin 12 Gauge Side-by-Side
FANTASTIC ENGRAVING, WOOD, BERNARD STEEL

General Specs: Otto Bock, Year Pre-1939, 12 Gauge, 6lb 9oz, SxS
Serial Number: 9159

Otto Bock was an engineer, master gunsmith, and well known Berlin based gunmaker in the late 1800's into the first part of the 20th century.  He was titled with "ROYAL COURT SUPPLIER" which is a very high compliment to the guns he sold.  I have researched his guns on the internet.  There is not one in the same class as this gun.  THIS FINE BOXLOCK IS THE FINEST OVERALL GUN I HAVE SEEN IN A LONG TIME.  It is literally perfect in every way.  First, this is a 12ga. gun that weighs just 6 1/2lbs. with PERFECT 31" Bernard damascus steel barrels, a highly figured European walnut stock with awesome stock dimensions, and 14 1/4" LOP.  A true lightweight.  The Bernard steel barrels show 99.5% vivid pattern, perfect mirror bores that have not been back bored and remain factory diameter, with 31 thousandths minimum barrel wall thickness, crisp rib matting/engraving/gold lettering, and not a mark or ding in them...perfect.  The wood to metal fit, checkering, spear shaped drop points, horn buttplate and forend tip, wood finish...all perfect with just a few minor handling marks.  The receiver retains 90% case color, perfect screws, AND AMAZING GAME SCENE ENGRAVING DONE TO PERFECTION WITH INCREDIBLE SCROLL AND SCREW DECORATION.  Even the trigger guard is case colored and highly engraved.  Mechanically perfect in every way, this gun is without flaw...literally!  Everything on the gun is notably BEST GUN...the ornately cut fences on the breech balls, the sculpting of the bolsters on the frame; the matting and engraving on the rib; the decorated Greener Crossbolt lock; the delicately scalloped back of the action and forend iron...all contribute to one very special gun.  For any double gun enthusiast, German inclined or not, this would be a great investment quality gun to enjoy for upland or clays.  Enjoy the photos and thanks for looking.
