Description:
S/N 13xxx, Mfg. 1927, matching bolt, 24" barrel, .30 GOV'T. '06 (30-06) caliber, UNDRILLED rear receiver bridge, low comb stock, steel butt plate, factory inletted and installed Lyman 48W receiver sight. Very good condition for an 89 year old rifle. The metal is near excellent for this model with only light wear other than the usual butt plate fading. Even the bottom metal (another area prone to flaking/fading) is way above average. The wood shows a very light scrubbing with steel wool and some oil rubbed over original finish along with it's numerous shallow dings and dibits but has not been sanded, and the checkering is clear. It presents very well.
It has become exceedingly difficult to find these basically unaltered examples in ANY caliber or condition due to low overall production and the majority having been altered for scope use with drill holes and some ridiculous bolt/safety alterations which also destroyed the stocks, along with a host of other hack jobs common to this model. Other than a tentative maintainance session or 2 to the wood over it's many years, this rifle is untouched and will make a fine collectible shooter.
