Description:
Serial #478387, .45-70, 32 1/2” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a very nice rifle that has most of the original blue remaining on the metal with some very mild silvering at the muzzle, and on a few of the high edges and projections. The “1884” marked breechblock has nearly all of the bright original color case-hardening still visible, and the lockplate has a few specks of mild surface freckling around the edge. The walnut stock has a crisp “SWP/1889” cartouche on the left side of the wrist, as well as several large handling marks and small surface blemishes on either side of the buttstock and around the receiver. The mechanism is tight and functions flawlessly, and the original ramrod is included. This is a fine example of a later production Trapdoor rifle and would make a handsome addition to any collection.
