Description:
For sale, a neat old H&R Model 922 "1st Variation" .22 revolver.  The model 922 revolver by H&R was a 9 shot double action revolver with a solid frame and cylinder held in with a removable pin.  It was made between 1927 and 1952 and earned a reputation for being an affordable revolver that was both very tough and accurate.  During the long production run there were 7 variations produced recognized by collectors today.  This example is the very first model variation and was made sometime between 1927 and 1930.  The approximate serial number range for this variation is 125,270 to 144,000.  This Model 922 is serial number 135,604 likely making production in the year 1928.  This revolver is in average to good condition overall, and excellent mechanically.  Everything works perfectly like the day it left the factory.  The action locks up nice and tight, and the bore of the barrel is bright and clean.  The rifling is strong and looks sharp.  The brass front sight blade is straight and tight to the barrel.  The Walnut saw handle style grips look great, with only minor signs of wear.  They are nice and tight to the pistol with no cracks or repairs.  The original H&R factory blue finish is still bright in spots, but has scattered areas where it has oxidized or rusted from wear and moisture.  Please see the photos to see what I am describing.  These first model variation H&R 922s are seldom seen today in working condition from what we have seen over the years.  They were typically used very heavily and frequently not well cared for.  While the finish is not in excellent shape on this example, this Model 922 seems to have escaped hard use over the last 88 years.  This would be a great pistol to add to your collection that you could shoot or hunt with without feeling bad.
