Civil War McClellen saddle Martingale with plain brass heart breast plate – complete with all straps. Scarce complete Civil War McClellen saddle martingale. I searched the internet to get an idea of what this is worth, but all I found was the heart breast plates for sale, and not cheap. Evidently the survival rate of these things was pretty low. This one is complete with the three straps that attach to the girth and they are complete, not missing ends. And an extra strap which I think goes from the brass ring at the top of the breast plate to the bridle. The leather is stiff, but if treated properly, could be cleaned up a lot. I didn’t clean it at all. This is how I got it. All stitches are intact. Scarce item. Shipping, insurance $24.00.
