Light brown cloth outer binding with diagonal line decorations and Title and date in gold lettering on the spine. 184 pages plus and additional 82 pages of Index and circulars. Top of cover is stained a ligher color, but the covers are intact, not tears or separation. Inner pages are fine. Title pages is marked in India Ink “Jeramiah King’s”/ “James Morrison’s Book/December 5TH 1877 Paterson N.J.” Jeramiah King appears to have been the first owner, likely at the end of the Civil War. James Morrison apparently acquired it later as a member of the NJ Militia. The 2nd to last page is marked in Indian Ink “Steel not this book my honest friend, for for to the gallows mile be your end. Once when you on the gallows tree, think of this book you stole from me./JM. The rear inside cover has a mathematical problem in pencil and many calculations – long multiplication and long division. “The diameter of a circle is 75 yards.
