From the 80's, the last true sidelock made by Perazzi. According to the author Karl Lippard, only a dozen of these Type II SHO ORO guns were made and perhaps only 9 were imported into the US. The stunning engraving was performed by Angelo Galeazzi, the most influential of all Italian firearms engravers.
The highly figured Circassian walnut has a few little dings and scratches from limited use. Weight of the gun is 8 lbs 9 ozs. It is perfectly balanced with the barrels/forend weighing 4 lbs 4 ozs and the receiver/stock weighing 4 lbs 5 ozs. See the picture of the original Perazzi spec sheet for all the measurements.
This gun comes in its original factory case with the original booklets and tools. It is from the estate of a former oil industry senior executive who was a serious collector.
This firearm has it all: beauty, pedigree, rarity and above all: shootability. It has been quoted that this is perhaps the finest sidelock gun ever made.....London guns notwithstanding! If this gun were still available new today it is hard to imagine what the cost would be.....$150K +??
