This is a very special, NEW IN THE BOX, LIMITED EDITION MERKEL WITH ONE-OF-A-KIND UPGRADES. In celebration of their 100th Anniversary L.L. Bean contracted with Merkel to create a unique and highly decorated sidelock double gun in 20ga. The base model from Merkel is the 147SL, and L.L. Bean had them customize it with a checkered butt, a 3" wedge of engraving at the barrel breech, fine game scene engraving with gold inlays on the bottom of the action dedicating the gun to the anniversary, and gold numbers in the rib showing this gun as number 5 of 20 total made, signed by master engraver B. Hafner, upgraded wood with fine skip line checkering, packaged in a fine leather case with an embossed label both inside and out. The case is fully accessorized with cleaning rod, jags, snap caps, etc. The Merkel 147SL is a fine gun in and of itself, with hand engraving and checkering. L.L. Bean has been a world leader in the outdoor business and this limited edition gun will maintain a very collectible and special status for generations to come. It is a stunning gun both visually and in its handling characteristics. A great gun for upland game or clay targets, and a fitting tribute to an American icon in the hunting and gunning world. This gun is new, unfired, with the original box, hang tags, and one of the nicest leather trunk cases I have seen, even on guns at 5 times the price. A great investment quality firearm with prestige galour.
