Description:
Winchester Model 21 .410 Side-by-Side Shotgun
#6 ENGRAVED W/ GOLD, B CARVED WOOD

General Specs: Winchester, Year 1950's, .410 Gauge, 7lbs 8oz, SxS
Serial Number: 17895

Most double gun enthusiasts are well aware of the reputation earned by the Winchester Model 21; a gun of far superior strength and mechanical genius that was under the micro management of John Olin himself. With only 30,000 produced (compared to 250,000 Parkers!), any high condition Model 21 is a valuable, investment quality firearm.  John Olin took a personal interest in the .410 bore Model 21 and of the few made most were made for him and/or his personal friends.  From 1950 to 1982  they only made about 65 .410 bore guns in total.  The gun we are viewing here is an exceptional example of Winchester's finest efforts.  This gun, sn17895 was likely produced in the 1950's, but not later than 1968, with a serial number of 17895 (no "W" prefix which started in 1969).  Keep in mind that the .410 Model 21 was not developed until 1950, and that they were built on a 20ga. frame.  As most who study Model 21's know, the serial number is not linked to the actual production or completion date of the gun.  Rather, the frames were forged, rough machined, serial numbered, and placed in storage bins.  When it came time to build a gun, the worker grabbed haphazardly into the bin for a frame with no regard for keeping numbers in order.  This is an exceptional gun built with 28" ventilated rib barrels choked IC/M, properly stamped with "Custom Built By Winchester" on the rib, fantastic B CARVED wood with fabulous feather crotch figure, #6 engraved with 5 gold inlays, and in as new condition showing virtually no wear, engine turned forend iron, barrel flats, and breech face.  This gun is all Winchester, with all stamps and markings exactly as documented in Ned Schwing's book on Model 21's.  In perfect condition with great stock dimensions we are offering this gun at a very attractive price.  Finding a genuine Winchester M21 .410 is a not a common occurrence, and these guns will continue to gain value as you enjoy its use.
