Description:
U.S Springfield Trapdoor Model 1873. This rifle was made in 1884 and is still overall in good condition. The bore looks to be near new, showing very little if any use. The underside of the breech block and tang have 100% of the original case colors. There is still 95% plus blue on balance of metal. The action is as crisp as ever. All the screw heads are in very good condition. The ramrod has perfect blue and is correct for the model and age. The wood has never been retouched. There is only one small area about halfway up the forearm where there is a small gouge along the ramrod channel. The stock still has 90% original stain and finish. Samuel W. Porters inspection cartouche is dated 1884 and is in perfect condition as is the "P" acceptance stamp at the bottom of the trigger guard plate. Overall this is one of the nicer trapdoor rifles to come along that has not been touched. It only shows minor handling marks one would expect after 132 years.
