If you want to start a vigorous debate, ask a group of experienced double gun enthusiasts "what maker builds the finest double shotgun in the world?". There will be a variety of educated opinions with vigorous defenders, but Holland & Holland will be included in the debate. Building fine sporting arms since 1856, there is little doubt that H & H will always land in the top 5 BEST GUN makers in the world. This gun, sn41170 built in 1991, is a prime example of a LONDON BEST GUN. The Holland Royal epitomizes the way a BEST GUN should look and feel in hand. This example is set up as a field gun with perfectly struck 28" chopper lump barrels choked IC/LM (.009/.015), double triggers, gorgeous English walnut straight hand stock and splinter forend. Weighing 6lbs. 13oz. and balanced just 3/16" forward of the hinge pin, this is an upland bird hunter's dream gun...easy to carry, quick to shoulder and lightning fast, choked for working over good dogs. Not only is this Holland Royal the perfect shooting tool, it is stunning aesthetically as well, with the Holland banknote style scroll executed to perfection, coin finish, perfect screws, 99.5% rich London blue on the barrels, all essentially as new from the factory, unaltered in anyway except a few boxes of shells being shot through her. The wood is without blemish or flaw, the engraving is crisp and sharp as new, wood to metal fit is flawless. Cased in the original maker's case with all of the fine Holland & Holland accessories including properly fit turnscrews, extra main springs, snap caps, oil bottle, ebony cleaning rod, key, and proper mops and jags. The case is near new inside and out. To buy a Holland Royal in today's world takes a year of waiting time and over $110,000 of investment. This finest example will be sold for a mere fraction of the cost of new to some lucky investor/shooter. Don't let this one get by you! Thanks for looking.
