ORIGINAL FRENCH ST. ETIENNE MODEL 1866 CHASSEPOT NEEDLE FIRE MILITARY RIFLE. Serial number "Q17248" and all matching including bolt and stock. Has most of needle but rubber obturator(washer) missing as typical. Dated "1874" on right side of barrel along with all other corresponding proofs correct. 32" barrel with MINT bore and crisp rifling. Original patina on barrel over original white mostly dried grease and oil from preservation. No pitting or salt and pepper. All markings crisp and visible. Original cleaning rod. Single shot. Original stock with various matching serial number, round manufacture date stamp encompassing "MA" also dated 1873. Many storage dings on wood primarily around buttplate but structurally perfect with no losses. Interesting agent (?) stamp behind triggerguard "D- A. Pajtre". Perfect working order and will clean up nicely. Excellent screws.
