GERMAN SYSTEM AYDT SCHUETZEN FALLING BLOCK .22LR RIFLE BY LANGENHAN/FLZ(ZELLA-MEHLIS). Circa 1920-30's. Serial number "4XX". 28" Octagonal barrel with mint crisp bore and rifling(these rifles are supposed to drive tacks at 200meters). Original blue on barrel with factory matte top flat including integral dovetail for adjusting rear sight which is original. Front sight later replacement. Barrel "F.L. Kleinkaliberbuchse(sp), Cal. 22 Long Rifle". F.L. stands for Fritz Langenhan of Zella-Mehlis, last of the Langenhan family gun dynasty specializing in schuetzen rifles and pistols. Falling block stamped with 'FLZ(fritz langenhan. zella-mehlis" and 'Eingtetr Marke" around the "FLZ". Receiver with almost all the original blue with a few cosmetic light scratches from cleaning. Single trigger with drop lever triggerguard. Perfect lock-up. Plain steel buttplate. Original wood with light oil finish never sanded and crisp checkering. A few storage dings minimal. Basic grade 1 engraving crisp. Missing tang lollipop peep sight. Sliver of wood missing from right side of forend 2" long by 1/2" does not effect fit. Perfect working order and should be an excellent shooter for modern .22lr ammo. Integral extractor works perfectly as well.
