This senior forestry Hirchfanger/dagger is an original CARL EICKHORN,triple etched , with the squirrel trand mark and C.E. .The brass fittings are in mint condition with gold wash over all the beautiful gold washed acorns ornately placed on each side of the grip on ivory colored celluloid grip. The d hand guard has hoofed animal feet with fur incised outlines, the clam shell guard has a thick gold wash also. The blade has Ges. Geschutzt ,Which in German means warrented on both sides. The blade is frosty with hunting sceans on both sides , one of an Elk trumpeting, a hunter shooting at two elk, on the observe again are dogs fighting a boar in the forest, a hunter approaching with a gun in one hand and a forestry sword in the other, very rare scene.The portapee is original period and mint. the scabbard has an acorn stud to fit your belt or a frog, the staples are stong as is the stiching.Even the top edge of the blade is etched with leaves.Carl Eickhorn made the elite daggers for all the top German forces even the SS. This is a bring back from a vets estate 91 years old, Some waer on the edges from bringing it in and out ,does not detract at all.
