Description:
Serial #17116, .50-70, 32 1/2” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a few traces of mild freckling within the grooves at the muzzle. This rifle has an 1863 dated lockplate with the metal having a dark, plum-brown patina overall with some darker spots of freckling and some scattered areas of pinprick pitting. The serial numbers on the barrel and receiver are matching and the breech block lock-up is firm while the action is tight and functions flawlessly. Traces of bright blue are present on the left side of the receiver at the serial number. The walnut stock has a thick, added oil finish with numerous minor surface marks and handling blemishes. The outline of the inspector cartouche is barely visible behind the forward lock screw, and the buttplate and trigger guard have mild pitting throughout. The rifle comes with a correct metal ramrod and is in good plus condition overall. Antique
