Description:
Serial #B4969, .30 W.C.F., 24" round barrel with a very good bore that has some slight freckling within the grooves near the muzzle. The receiver and lever have turned to an overall dull gray patina with some mild freckling and mottling throughout, while the barrel has turned to a pleasant plum-brown color with traces of original blue on protected areas. The walnut stock rates very good plus with some scattered handling marks, and a 1 1/2" hairline crack near the front band on the right side. The tang is slightly proud of the buttstock, but the wood is proud of the metal in other areas. The musket is equipped with a Lyman front sight, and the bayonet lug has been ground flush with the nosecap. An original brown leather sling is also included. These interesting Marlin Muskets were made in very limited numbers, possibly as parts clean-up, with sale intended for military and law enforcement organizations. This is a rare opportunity for the collector to acquire a very hard-to-find Marlin Musket; one in very good-near fine condition too. FFL or C&R
