This is a handsome and early M&P revolver that has matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, barrel, and extractor with the metal retaining 75-80% of the original nickel finish that has developed light brown freckling along both sides of the frame and within the flutes of the cylinder. Unusually, the barrel was never given a caliber marking and only has the patent markings along the top. The hammer and trigger have about 80-85% of their original color case-hardening remaining, and the original S&W hard rubber grips, numbered to the gun on the interior, are in very good-near fine shape with some very mild flattening of the points, and a few minor spots of surface damage at the butt on the right panel. The revolver is accompanied by a 2015 dated Smith & Wesson factory letter that lists a shipping date of November 3, 1900, to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. of Chicago, IL. This is a very nice example of a pre-five screw S&W hand ejector, and would make a terrific addition to any collection.
