In "Remington Rolling Block Military Rifles of the World" by Geo0rge Layman,on pages 137 to 139 it describes this rare musketoon model. It has a about a 27 3/8 inch barrel,2 barrel bands,long saber bayonet lug,and a type 4 action.About 42 1/2 inch overall length. There are Arabic marking on top of barrel near receiver. There are faint marks where one finds EP/1913 ( Egypitan ) ,but I am not sure. Its probably .43 Egyptian caliber. I only have a .43 Spanish rd. and it goes all the way in ,but does not seat correctly.This musketoon is well used but not beat to death. The butt stock looks pretty good. The forend has a piece of wood missing from the right side and various dark spots.I am sure these pieces were changed during the musketoon's life.The bore is shiney but lands and grooves are very light.Rear sight goes up though spring is weak and adjustable ladder is missing as usual..E. Remington&son makings can be made out on top tang but are faint.Will consider in trade a Maynard Model 1873 / 1882 action with stock for a Maynard heavy barrel. Or, what do you have available in Maynard ?
