Smith Field Grade .410's made beginning in 1926. Of those 1429 were made with 26" barrels. American made .410 bore double guns are a low production gun that is somewhat scarce. In fact, of the prominent American makers, only Parker, Ithaca, and L.C. Smith made their shotguns in the diminutive .410. That leaves the L.C. Smith, America's only commercially successful sidelock action, available in the .410 bore, as a desirable and affordable American small bore. High case colors, original factory wood with full length of pull to a factory butt plate, and only 1001 were made with the option of the single sighting plane rib. This Elsie, SN 55972 was made in 1950, the last year of production, by the Hunter Arms Co., Inc, and is marked 3 Inch chambers on the barrel flats. This certainly is an investment type firearm as well as a great shooting and fun little gun. SOLD |
