Description:
450/400 2/3/8 double rifle that weighs 7 pounds 13 oz. Pull is 14 3/8" Double rifle is in very good original condition. Very little original bluing on the steel barrels (verified steel by factory letter). About 50% crisp engraving coverage. Wood to metal fit is very good with NO proud metal. One box of unfired cases included. Barrels weigh 4 pounds 9.5 oz and are 27" long.  Locks up tight. Would make a great deer rifle! Bores are very good with strong Henry rifling. Minor pitting on outside of barrels in a few places. Wood is solid and there is a horn butt plate and horn grip cap. Lever forend is in very good condition, checkering is never been recut, minor bruising on butt stock. Rebounding hammers with locks. Eyes for slings on barrels and butt stock. This double rifle was made as a high quality rifle and has many years of hunting left. Finished January 30th, 1886. Sold for 22 Guineas with a 3 year warrenty to a Mr. Hinton, or Kinton. Factory letter says it was made as a .400 Cordite rifle, but the London proof marks don't show that. This isn't a rifle brought in from India and restocked, it is all original and not messed with! It was purchased out of a collection in a castle in England.
