Bbl marking is 44W. Yes, it is a 44-40! 26" oct bbl with nearly all blue remaining. Most of it is nice bright and shiny. There is some pin pricking and aging spots mostly on the right side. Metal is very nice overall condition. Rocky Mtn blade front sight and the orig long style Marlin rear sight that still has most of the very pretty fire blue. Even the elevator is the orig Marlin part. Case colors on the receiver bridge and different areas of the frame. The rest has aged to a normal antique brown patina. Crescent buttplate is in very nice condition. The forearm wood is exceptional. Buttstock fits nice. Some chipping at the top where the stock meets the frame. This a rare attractive gun and has a bore that could not be improved upon. It is that nice! A great Marlin Ballard!
