Description:
Exceptional Slotter & Company derringer percussion pocket pistol, see Flayderman's 7D-026. Stamped on the top of the barrel "MADE FOR / A. J. PLATE / SAN FRANCISCO", lock and breech top marked "J. DERINGER / PHILADEL.A". Breech side also stamped with a "P". John Deringer was a tailor that was brought into the Slotter company to solely use his name to deceive the public as a Henry Deringer manufactured product. This example is exceptional condition overall. 6 3/4" overall length, 3" barrel. All steel components are smooth, free of any pitting. Most metal components as well as German-silver mounts are engraved. The walnut stock is free of any cracks, chips or dings, with fine-defined checkering on the grip exhibiting the slightest handling wear. One old well-done chip repair on left front under the barrel. Mechanics are tight. All metal to wood is tightly fitted. A fine example of a "Derringer" pocket pistol.
