Description:
Serial #214401, .32 S&W, 2” barrel with a good bore that has dark spots of freckling and light pitting along its length. This rare revolver has matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, latch, barrel, and extractor with the metal retaining 65-70% of the original blue finish that has faded lightly on the muzzle, on exposed edges, and along the grip safety. Some further fading is present along the cylinder, which has a light turn ring as well, and the rear of the frame. Additionally, there is some light surface damage and small impact marks on the left side of the frame just below the latch thumb-piece. The trigger retains muted original color case-hardening and the checkered hard rubber grips have light wear with some very mild flattening of the points. The revolver is accompanied by a pair of Smith & Wesson factory letters (one dated 1997 that went to Famous S&W Writer/collector Jim Supica and lists the revolver as nickel, the other dated 2016 and lists the revolver as blue. Both list a ship date of December 12, 1917, to E.K. Tryon Co. of Philadelphia, PA. These “bicycle” revolvers are seldom seen, and this blued example rates good-good plus condition overall.
